The Costa Sunglasses Site

A Destination for Those Who Live on the Water

Born on the Water

Costa has taken inspiration from life on the water since day one. It drives them to make the highest performance sunglasses for those on the water, to lead efforts to protect waterways and to equip and inspire others to get on the water and See What’s Out There. But as popularity among mainstream consumers grew and a new audience was landing on their site, Costa wasn’t paying off its three brand pillars of performance, protection and exploration in a compelling, singular narrative.

The Marriage of Content and Commerce

We re-architected their site to align the content strategy and experience with their core mission while streamlining the shopping process. To do so, we integrated their previously discrete film content platform with their ecommerce site to shape a unified story of conservation and adventure through branded content that was closely linked to their product lines.

This foundation only got stronger over the next 8 years, two major redesigns and countless incremental improvements along the way. But one thing never wavered: our focus on balancing bringing the brand to life through conservation and adventure content and striving for a seamless ecommerce experience.

Evolving Ecommerce Experience

On the transactional side of things — among many other optimizations over the years — we focused on boosting site sales by streamlining the mobile ecommerce experience, testing and reconfiguring the product variant selectors and simplifying the product options to focus on the most popular products.

Content With a Purpose

The most successful initiatives have been integrated campaigns that saw us partnering with like-minded water-loving brands to promote worthy causes such as The Race to Save Great Whites with OCEARCH, Untangle Our Oceans with Bureo and Kick Plastic with Washed Ashore, all of which were supported by product lines.

Our Vision Paid Off

CostaSunglasses.com has seen an average sales increase of 47% year over year since 2010.
